Reason to Sing

If you attended Isaac's memorial service, you sang "Desert Song".  This song has spoken to me many times since I first heard it.  The song reminds me that in every trial, pain, or battle - I can cry out to God...that in everything in life, God is there.  Through all of the trial and uncertainty of Isaac's disease, God was the reason I could still find joy.

Recently, I heard another song with a similar message that I love, especially right now.  It's called "Before the Morning" by Josh Wilson.
"Do you wonder why you have to
Feel the things that hurt you
If there’s a God who loves you where is He now
Maybe there are things you can’t see
And all those things are happening
To bring a better ending
Someday somehow you’ll see you’ll see

Would you dare, would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you’ve been feeling
It can’t compare to the joy that’s coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you’ve been feeling
It’s just the dark before the morning."

The bottom line is:  Unlike our circumstances, God NEVER changes.  Unlike our circumstances, God is ALWAYS good.  That's why, we don't sing praises to our circumstances - we sing praises to our God.

  1. Nice. Thanks for sharing. I also like the song "Blessed Be Your Name", especially the chorus that goes "You give and take away, you give and take away, but my heart will choose to say, blessed be your name." Reminds me that He's given us the grace to bless His name even during trials :) Will look forward to reading your blog more! I've put you on my roll.

  2. Oh yeah, this is the Jen (Yeh) from high school... in case you were wondering :)

  3. I am SO glad i found you ... my husband is currently undergoing treatment for a sarcoma out at the City of Hope hospital in CA, while i am here in Kansas City. I had a moment, not my lowest moment on this journey, but a moment, where i knew i HAD to give it all to God ... i am a worrier, and am really good at it, and it was making me sick; couldn't sleep, not eating well, etc. and as i was sitting in the bathroom on the floor, while my husband was showering again (the only thing that helped the pain was long, hot showers), i begged God to allow me to give it all to him. I have done pretty well with it, but i have my moments. I am not mad at God for this, this is not his will ... cancer, to me, is the result of thousands of years of sin and bad choices, He doesn't want this for any of us. Thank you for what you are doing. we have only been married just over 2 years, but the last year + has been dealing with this stupid cancer. You are an encouragement to me, a much needed encouragement.
